London’s Most Famous Snacks

Add some color and flavor to your Instagram account by finding and snapping some of London’s most stylish snacks. From cloud ice cream to weird and wonderful waffles, here are seven of the city’s Insta-famous bites.

Ice Cream Clouds: Milk Train

If you’re patient and have a sweet tooth, head to Milk Train, a very popular dessert cafe where the soft serve ice cream draws a crowd. This Covent Garden hotspot churns out Taiwanese-inspired ice cream wrapped in fluffy clouds of cotton candy. Choose a base flavor (vanilla, matcha or roasted green tea) and then see it covered in cotton candy before toppings like Oreo cookies, popcorn and strawberries are added. Warning: the cone is hard to hold, especially with your camera phone in your other hand. This cafe also serves sundaes and shaved ice.

Macaron Ice Cream Sandwich: Yolkin

Yolkin brings together two food trends: macarons and ice cream. The Covent Garden pop-up shop sells a range of unusual flavors including matcha and black sesame alongside macarons inspired by sweets including Snickers and Skittles. The flavor list is published every Tuesday and the shop is only open on Saturdays and Sundays until the product sells out (usually around mid-afternoon after the doors open at noon). Note that Yolkin operates as a pop-up business and currently has no permanent address.

Waffle Cone: Bubblewrap

In the heart of Chinatown, Bubblewrap has taken Instagram by storm. Savvy social media fans line up for hours to get their hands on these giant bubble-shaped egg waffles filled with gelato and sweet toppings like Oreo crunch, Nutella and salted caramel. The great dish originates from China where they are a popular Cantonese street snack. Choose from three waffle flavors (plain, cocoa, matcha) and pair with Hong Kong style milk tea.

Cupcakes: Peggy Porschen

This pink bubblegum shop turns heads in London’s Belgravia neighborhood. The entrance is decorated with impressive floral bows and a silly pink vintage bicycle and hundreds of people pause at the door every day. Inside the cake is just as impressive. Choose from a wide selection of cupcakes, layered sponges, and macarons. Grab a pretty strawberry and champagne cupcake for a selfie outside and click here.

Poke Bowl From Ahi Poké

Enjoy the tropics with colorful Hawaiian-inspired Poke bowls at Ahi Poké in Fitzrovia. Loaded with raw fish, fresh vegetables and rice or quinoa, they’re as good for your health as they are for your Instagram feed. Get creative and build your own bowl with a base of seasoned Ahi tuna, salmon, shrimp or mushrooms and a rainbow of vegan toppings and delicious sauces like sweet ponzu, siracha mayo and black chili. This small beach shack style shop is decorated with navy blue tiles and surfboards.
